Script Selling or Winging it: Which is better?

As salespeople, we pride ourselves on being unique. We think, “I’ll just be myself.” Whilst authenticity is vital, relying solely on your natural self is usually a mistake.
Click the video below to see if ‘winging it’ is better than a script when trying to be authentic. Or maybe there’s a 3rd option.
re’s why ad-lib selling or winging it is dangerous:
Being authentic but without structure makes us inconsistent and unpredictable.
Without consistency, we can’t measure what works.
We have no repeatable structure or process to teach new starters on the sales team.
Does this mean becoming a “sales robot”? Absolutely not!
Rigid scripts might ensure consistency but they strip away individuality and flexibility - 2 things that make sales conversations engaging and credible.
The key is finding a middle ground:
Instead of a script, use a structure: a step-by-step framework keeps you on track while giving flexibility to adapt and show your personality.
Be consistent. A reliable process means repeatable success and measurable results.
This also gives you a ‘Sales Playbook’ to teach others: this is how we do sales here. Learn it, then add your own voice.
At True Sales Academy, we’ve developed the E.A.S.Y. Sales Structure, our 4-step process that’s helped thousands of people sell successfully while staying authentic.
But ours isn’t the only approach - find a structure that works for you.
If you’re “winging it” or stuck in an ineffective routine, this is your time to embrace structure. It could be the game-changer you’ve been waiting for.
